A: There may be no out of pocket costs to you for your home elevation project!
Q: When will my home elevation job start?
A: We will begin work on your home four to six weeks after your grant has been approved.
Q: How long will the home elevation take?
A: It will take approximately 45 days to complete the elevation of your home.
Q: How long do I have to be out of my home?
A: You will only be out of your home less than a week.
Q: What is going to happen to my floors and walls?
A: Walls and floors may crack; however, your contract includes the patching of sheetrock and the fixing of tile floors (tile and grout provided by the homeowner).
Q: Will my lawn or garden be damaged during the home elevation process?
A: Any damage to your lawn or garden will be fixed at the end of the project.
Q: How high do I have to raise my house?
A: The grants require that your home be raised to meet the ABFE or DFIRM. This varies from area to area. To see what the standards are in your area, go to www.lamappingproject.com, click on Parishes, your Parish, and type in your address.
Q: I spent all/part of my Road Home money. Can I still have my house elevated?
A: All elevation funds disbursed must be accounted for via verification of payment to the contractor. Therefore, an outside loan or an in house promissory note may be obtained.
Q: Can I elevate my multi-unit home?
A: Yes, you can use elevation grant funding to elevate up to a four-unit home.
Q: Why should I lift my home?
A: Peace of mind that you will not flood in the future!
Q: How will raising my home affect my Flood Insurance Premiums?
A: Your yearly Flood Insurance Premiums will be significantly reduced.
